As of my knowledge cutoff in 2021, the ten largest mattress companies in the world (in no particular order) were:
-
Serta Simmons Bedding, LLC: Serta and Simmons are two separate brands under the same company, which is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. (Filed for bankruptcy in March of 2023)
-
Tempur Sealy International, Inc.: Tempur-Pedic and Sealy are two of the most well-known brands owned by this company, which is based in Lexington, Kentucky. (Tempur bought Sealy in the late 2000s when Sealy was in deep financial trouble)
-
Sleep Number Corporation: This company specializes in adjustable air mattresses and is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Available in Canada for two or three years back in the 90s)
-
King Koil: This mattress company has been in business for over 100 years and is headquartered in Illinois, USA. (The largest mattress manufacturer in Canada back in the 90s in its heyday)
-
Corsicana Mattress Company: Founded in 1971, this Texas-based company sells mattresses under several different brands. (Never offered here to my knowledge)
-
Spring Air International: Spring Air is a US-based company that has been in business since 1926 and sells mattresses in over 40 countries. (Once an important player in Ontario but a series of financial troubles ended that run)
-
Ashley Furniture Industries: Although Ashley Furniture is primarily known for its home furnishings, the company also sells mattresses under its own brand name. (Available only at their retail stores)
-
Restonic Mattress Corporation: Restonic is a US-based company that has been in business since 1938 and sells mattresses in over 50 countries. (Briefly an important player when made by King Koil in Ontario in the 90s)
-
Southerland Sleep: This Tennessee-based company has been in business since 1893 and sells mattresses under several different brands. (Never sold here to my knowledge)
-
Eclipse International: Eclipse is a US-based company that has been in business since 1905 and sells mattresses in over 60 countries. (Never sold here to my knowledge)
We only sell 100% Canadian made mattresses from companies started by and still owned by Canadians.
