What are the key factors I should use when selecting mattresses for a school dormitory?
Jan. 12, 2023

When selecting mattresses for a school dormitory, some important factors to consider include:

  • Durability: Mattresses in a dormitory setting will likely see a lot of use, so it's important to choose a model that is built to withstand regular wear and tear.
  • Size: Make sure the mattresses will fit comfortably in the available space in the dormitory rooms. Twin XL size is often used in dormitories, because they are longer than standard twin mattresses and are typically used in dormitories, as they're able to fit most people comfortably. (Good call because the extra five inches in length can accommodate taller people)
  • Comfort: The mattress should provide adequate support and comfort for a good night's sleep.
  • Price: Dormitories often have limited budgets, so it's important to find a balance between quality and cost.
  • Fire resistance: Safety regulations might have a requirement that mattress must have a fire-resistant barrier. (Many dormitories select waterproof proof and bed bug proof vinyl mattresses)
  • Delivery and Setup: Consider the logistics of delivering and setting up the mattresses in the dormitory rooms. (Unsure what this means as all dormitory rooms have to be accessible. It is a reason to possibly not order double sized or larger mattresses which might not make it around tight corner in a building)
