No you shouldn’t.
A customer asked this question yesterday and I looked them right in the eye and said “I wouldn’t walk into your doctor’s office and tell them how they should diagnose their patients and they (doctors) shouldn’t tell their patients what mattress to buy. They have absolutely no expertise, they just have an opinion”. A generalized statement about what is a very personal choice (buying a new mattress) is not helpful.
The doctor suggested mattress was a Tempurpedic. They make very good mattresses, very expensive but they are good products. Years ago I asked the owner of Tempur Canada why their mattress (they only had one model back then) cost so much? He said “Bill, 60% of what you pay me goes into marketing”. That ratio was simply too high and from that day on we never sold their product again.
Of course you should try one of their mattresses, it might be your best choice for a good night’s sleep if price is not a concern but please do not buy a Tempur because a medical professional said you should.
