On a twin xl size of our most popular model adjustable bed The Supreme the spacing between the outside of a pair of legs is 28" and thus inset 5" from either side of the electric base. This inset should leave plenty of space to not be blocked by wooden ledges that hold up the box springs from your previous conventional mattress set (see below). It's definitely an important measurement and our bases have allowed for it.
