Any size over sixty inches in a foundation will be made in two halves for two reasons. One reason is a foundation is always stronger when made in two halves and the other very important reason is a foundation can’t be bent at all to navigate around the tight corners in many homes so splitting it into two pieces makes it possible to deliver up even the tightest of Victorian staircases.
