How much space does a twin size bed take in my room?
Feb. 12, 2023

A little twin size bed typically measures 39 inches wide by 75 inches long (that's the approximate measurement of the mattress and box not the bed frame which typically is 2 to 4 inches wider and longer), but it's important to keep in mind that the bed frame and any additional furniture like bedside tables, dressers, and so on, can add to the overall space requirements.

As a general rule of thumb, it's a good idea to allow for at least two to three feet of space around the bed for movement and accessibility (3 is better, in a pinch you can place one side of your twinbed against a wall or buy a daybed which is designed to go against a wall). So, a twin size bed with a bed frame and accompanying furniture might require a space of around 8 to 10 square feet. (Completely wrong math here as this would mean your room was around three feet by three feet! 60 to 100 square feet is the right number)
