Bamboo mattresses (all mattresses) can have a mild odor when they are first unpackaged, which is commonly referred to as off-gassing (more often if this occurs the smell is from the glues used to hold comfort layers together). This is a common phenomenon with many foam-based products and is not specific to bamboo mattresses (correct).

The smell is usually not harmful and will dissipate over time with proper ventilation. Some people may be more sensitive to these odors than others, so if you're concerned, it's best to let the mattress air out in a well-ventilated room for a few days before using it. (correct)
