Can I use my existing mattress on a hospital bed?
Jan. 18, 2023

It depends on the size and type of your existing mattress, (there is virtually no regular mattress that will work properly on a hospital bed if you want to use any of its electrical functions) as well as the size and specifications of the hospital bed. (Your existing mattress has to be the same size as the platform of the hospital bed it's resting on)
Standard hospital beds have a width of 36 inches, while standard mattresses have a width of 39 inches. Some hospital beds have the option to use a standard mattress, but you should check with the manufacturer or your healthcare provider to confirm compatibility before using your existing mattress on a hospital bed. (36" is the standard width of a hospital bed mattress but the greater issue is your existing mattress's ability to flex properly when raising the head portion or under knee portion of a home hospital bed. Also many regular home mattresses are not meant to be flexed and therefore will likely be irreparably damaged if used on a hospital bed)

Also it's worth to keep in mind that a hospital bed mattress typically have more pressure relieve features than a regular one. (True)
